Didn’t your math teacher ever tell you that for a solution to present itself, there has to be a problem first? Well, mine did, and she wasn’t wrong.
Here Lies the Problem
You might feel that the problem lies in vegans needing makeup that adheres to their principles and ethics. You’re partly right.
There is so much more to it than that, and though it does mostly come down to not using any animal products, the reasoning is far more involved and surprising. Get your popcorn.
As a vegan, you don’t want to use anything coming from an animal, and this goes for your makeup, too. For that reason, you have to make sure you find brands that are animal-friendly and vegan so that you act according to your beliefs.
The planet needs help, and what is “regular” makeup doing to it? Well, the same, if not worse, than the meat industry.
You could argue that the meat industry is killing animals and treating them terribly for food, but the same goes for animal testing and makeup containing animal products and by-products. Doing so to make ourselves more beautiful is pretty bad.
Our skin is crying out for some TLC, and we are actively ruining it by always going for the chemical and animal-tested options.
Here Lies the Solution
Vegan makeup is the way to treat a myriad of issues, both cosmetic and ethical. You make a conscious choice to go out and get this type of beauty product, thus helping not only the planet, the animals, and your skin but also your conscience.
Vegan Makeup – As Good As the Rest?
I have been vegan quite a while now, and it been a long time since I started experimenting with makeup. I’m hardly a novice when it comes to my beauty regimen.
However, when I was starting out, I couldn’t find a brand that aligns with both my standards and my beliefs. It was tough to find the right type of makeup. I learned that you can’t always rely on the advice of others. You need to do your research and find one that is right for you.
My initial misgiving was that I would be giving something up by going for vegan makeup, but it was the solution to my ethical dilemma problem. I didn’t see a choice, and so I just got on with it. Little did I realize the opportunities out there are so vast and varied – and of such high quality!
When I came across what was to become my favorite brand in the world, Rock Candy Beauty, I knew that I had found my Shangri-La.
Vegan Makeup – As Good As It Gets
Rock Candy Beauty, if you haven’t yet heard of them, are a vegan and cruelty-free makeup brand par excellence. Their calling card is their spray on makeup kit, but what is eye-opening is the fact they are leading the way with their fashion-forward makeup kits that are vegan cruelty-free organic, gluten-free and mineral based. There is nothing on the market like it.
This makes Rock Candy Beauty not so much the solution as the only solution. Vegan? RCB. Bad Skin? RCB. Care for the animals? RCB. Into mineral-based makeup? RCB. I’ve yet to find another brand that ticks this many boxes.
Where Had It Been?
Is vegan makeup new? Sadly no, we seem to have forgotten it for a way too long over the centuries having been seduced by “science”, but at least now we are rekindling our love affair with nature, and for all the right reasons.
You don’t need to shop vegan makeup. What you need to do is buy clever. And that’s what vegan brands are about: having clarity about what you need to do to solve the problem, whatever that may be. You can’t go wrong when you’re ethically sourced.
