I’m going to start by saying this; I’m not here to turn you into a vegan if you aren’t already one. I only want to share a few facts with you, so that we both can learn a little more.
In general, however, vegans do get a lot of judgment. Whether it’s done for health or a cause bigger than themselves, there’s almost always ill intended words going around. Besides having to suffer through this, vegans are actually making a huge sacrifice by giving up meat and animal products. This means that sometimes they miss out on some of their favorite foods, and they need to change their lifestyles.
But what are the benefits of doing this?
Well, vegan doesn’t just refer to food; it’s also a lifestyle stretching from makeup to clothing. As a result, you end up with products that are amazing for the environment, your sense of justice, and yourself.

Meat-based diets cause a large emission of greenhouse gasses. The amount is surprisingly around seven times larger than that which occurs with a vegan diet, a quantity large enough to make someone choke. Reportedly, 51 percent of greenhouse gasses are caused by animal agriculture, according to the Worldwatch Institute.
Livestock is the most significant contributor of methane, a gas which contributes the most to heat being trapped in the earth’s atmosphere.
The nitrous oxide level from the meat, eggs, and dairy industries is also at an unbelievable amount of 65 percent of the worlds nitrous oxide emissions. The end comparison is that a deluxe burger does more damage to the earth than a car.
To top it all off, vegans also lower the demand for animal slaughters, thus helping to save the lives of a few animals and stop cruelty at factory farms. I know sometimes people don’t really appreciate the idea, but vegans are doing some amazing stuff with their sacrifice.
A vegan diet could potentially be the healthiest way to live. Plant-based diets should contain plant fresh fruit and vegetables as well as grains, beans, and a few other food groups. This means that anyone on such a diet will be packed full of vitamins, minerals, fibre, and phytochemicals.
Healthy vegan diets include an abundance of Vitamins B1, C, and E as well as magnesium, and iron. The diet is also generally quite low in cholesterol and saturated fats.
Such a diet can reduce the risk of death from conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Ischemic heart disease, stroke, hypertension obesity and can even reduce the risk for a few types of cancer, such as prostate or colon cancer.
The diet is healthy for anyone, including children and pregnant women. Vegans do, however, need to pay attention to their diets to ensure that they aren’t suffering any deficiencies from a lack of nutrients. A well-planned diet ensures minimal risk of any form of deficiency.
